"Undertow" is about the quiet forces beneath the surface: the unseen pull that shapes and moves us without warning. While the surface may appear calm, there is a current running underneath, strong and unrelenting. I painted this piece with flowing layers and fluid movement, letting pigments drift and overlap until they seemed to pull at each other, creating a sense of depth and motion. The process mirrored the feeling of being caught in something larger than myself, resisting at first, then learning to surrender to its flow.
